Chevra Kadisha
The Chevra Kadisha is Hebrew for “holy society,” this refers to a Jewish Burial Society, often tasked with preparing the deceased for burial and providing support services for the mourners. Heritage Funeral Care works closely with the Pinellas County Chevra Kadisha.
Tahara
Tahara is Hebrew for “purification,” this is the traditional cleaning and ritual preparation of a body before burial, performed by members of a Chevra Kadisha.
Shomer
Hebrew for “guard,” this is someone who sits with the body and recites psalms before burial.
