Rochelle "Shelley" Gars, a dedicated Registered Nurse, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2024, in St. Petersburg. She was born in New York on October 5, 1936, and lived a life filled with purpose and love.
Shelley’s career as a nurse reflected her unwavering commitment to caring for others, a trait that extended beyond her professional life into her personal endeavors. She spent many years volunteering at The Florida Holocaust Museum, where her dedication helped to educate others about the past and honor the memories of those lost. Her compassion and dedication left a lasting impression on all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family was the cornerstone of Shelley's life. She was profoundly dedicated to her children: Jeffree, Jodi, and Michael, who will forever cherish the memories of her nurturing spirit. As a proud grandmother, “Mama Shell” loved her grandchildren — Aviva and Raina (Jeffree), Andrew, Jeremy, and Danielle (Jodi), and Hannah, Jake, and Jacquelyn (Michael & Marilyn)—with love and kindness.
Shelley’s love and legacy blossomed further with the arrival of her great-grandchildren—Tommy, Kai, Liam, Dazen, Asier, and Amaia—who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her sister Gail.
In addition to her family, Shelley was known for her passion for cooking, often gathering loved ones around the table to share meals infused with love. Her warmth and welcoming spirit made her a beloved figure in the hearts of many.
Rochelle "Shelley" Gars lived a life rich with love, dedication, and service, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who carry her memory forward with their hearts full of love.
Memorial services will be 1:00 pm Friday, October 25, 2024 at Chapel Hill Memorial Park, 12905 Wild Acres Road, Largo.
