MICHAEL JEFFREY HURWITZ, age 75 of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on January 15, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Arlene, and children, Hanit and Daniel, along with grandchildren, Ethan, Seth, Reed, Nevo, and Carmel.

Michael was born on April 15, 1949 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to parents, William (“Bill”) and Ruth Hurwitz, as the third of four Hurwitz brothers. Michael was raised with strong Jewish values that were the foundation of his family. He spent his early adulthood working in business alongside his father, who inspired his entrepreneurial spirit and garnered artistic talent from his mother that often set his work apart from others.

Throughout his career, he promoted and operated several local businesses, including a children’s clothing store and an independent taxi business, and always took the time to establish a warm rapport with his clients. He often took a creative approach to his business marketing and enjoyed inventing captivating advertising campaigns.

Michael (“Mickey”) moved his family to St. Petersburg in the early 1990’s and became a member of Congregation B’nai Israel Synagogue, where he attended religious services regularly. He maintained a Jewish identity throughout his life and instilled values in his children centered around the importance of education, history, and tradition. He had a serious disposition with a playful sense of humor. Michael will be remembered fondly by his loved ones for his strong values, playful spirit, and devotion to his family.
