It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harry Snedaker on October 27 at the age of 82 from Alzheimers. Harry was a beloved business owner and man in the St. Petersburg community.
Harry began his life on August 9, 1942 in Ambler, PA. Harry spent a quiet but content childhood in PA with his parents, Anne and Harry Snedaker, enjoying repairing old cars with school friends and spending summer vacations with a group of other family friends in summer retreats in PA. He married his first wife, Barbara Jean Thiel, in 1963 and together they had three daughters; Kim, Michelle and Alisha.
Harry first moved to Florida in 1975 with his second wife Sue to care for his parents living in Redington Shores. He first worked at Florida Vault Service, eventually buying the business. Upon Harry’s passing, every employee, funeral director, and cemetery owner shared that Harry was the kindest and most generously giving spirit they had the pleasure of knowing.
Harry was a devoted Christian and faithful member of local church communities in St. Petersburg. Sue & Harry were well known for organizing Thanksgiving in Seminole Park for 5+ years, a gathering for their friends and family, but feeding anyone seeking a good meal and fellowship on a day of giving thanks.
Harry spent the last 4 years of his life in New Orleans. LA and lastly in Charleston, SC where he was cared for by his daughters, enjoying years of music, dancing, days with his friends at the Senior center, backyard projects, music & food festivals, going to the movies, sharing good meals and his favorite ice cream.
Harry is survived by his daughters Kim Snedaker (William), Michelle Snedaker (Doug), Alisha Owens (Thomas), his step-daughter Michelle Charles; his beloved grandchildren Randy Pomykacz, Jordan Evans, Tammie Coors, Amber Thomas (Tray), Stuart VanHorn and his great-grandchildren Conner, Harmony, LaMyia and Naomi. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Barbara, and his second-wife Sue Snedaker.
A public memorial for Harry will be held at the Midway Cemetery, 1900 16th Street, Palm Harbor on December 28, 2024 at 11:00 am.
In honor of his generous and loving spirit, the family asks that donations be made to the Wind & Word Life House in St. Petersburg.
Although Harry is no longer with us, his legacy of faith and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who loved him forever.
